Feb 12th – Last day in Hawaii – Kauai

We are back to rocking and rolling!  The captain said it will be rough through tomorrow and he was “hoping” things would calm somewhat for the last three days.  Can’t do a darn thing about getting the Pacific to be pacific so we’ll make the best of a fantastic cruise!!!

Kauai was nice today and we departed late from the ship after all the tour groups got under way.  There were shuttles to the town and shopping areas so we grabbed one and just enjoyed the day wandering around and looking into the shops.  Things look pretty depressed around here and it looks sad to see so many vacant stores.  There didn’t seem to  be many non-cruise tourists around here either.  People were sure happy to see us, though!!

We got back to the ship in time for me to attend the afternoon trivia at four and …….STOP THE PRESSES…………WE WON!!  Only three of our six were there and we won!!  Just to make sure you are duly impressed there were 15 teams playing!  I was the only person in the room who knew what the original name of butterflies was!!  This is truly the most useless piece of information known to man.  (BTW, the answer is “flutterby”.)

Then, the treat of all treats!! Yes, you guessed it!  Someone got left behind on the pier!!  Those of us who love to be on our balconies during sailaway live for these kinds of moments.  Before we sailed there was an announcement “for crew” that So and So from the Lotus Spa please call the Passenger Services desk.  The ship pulls away from the pier and is starting to leave the small harbor when a tugboat arrives alongside and transfers Miss So and So to the ship!!!  We talked to one of the spa attendants this evening and it is more than likely that Miss So and So is now looking for work!!

So we topped off this big day with a lovely dinner in the Steak House.  We were joined by Doris and Ray and we laughed and joked our way through the meal.  They are such terrific traveling companions and Ray has never forgotten a joke!

We were seen off today by a couple of whales and a pod of dolphins!  I missed it but was told that a whale breached just a short distance from the ship.  I did hear everyone react when it happened.

The bumps are really starting now so it’s going to be another night of trying to stay in bed!  Plus, we have to give back one of those two hours we gained on the way over!
No plans tomorrow except to stay off the floor!

Lots of love,
XOXOXO

  1. Boise, thought the rockin and rollin was going to be done. Well, at least you had a 3 day break!

Can't believe a crew member didn't make it back on time...embarrassing! Yay, you finally won trivia! Now, you'll be winning every time (seems to be your MO once you win the first one).

Good luck staying off the floor!

  2. I suppose you now have had an almost complete passenger exchange....only a few die hards doing both ways ....especially in your rolling high seas...

Your waves are now hitting the coast ....Daphne and I will keep a sharp lookout for Princess flotsam....

Or do they crown a Princess Flotsam on the last night?

Tell John they should do a taping on board...
