I know you have heard this before but we are STILL having
some very rough seas. The waves are 20+
feet and we’ve had periods of wind over 50 mph!! Last night was again pretty bumpy and today
is no different.
The Captain announced today that we are behind schedule and
will arrive in Honolulu a day later. We
were due in there tomorrow morning but now we will head to Maui, arriving there
on Friday. Then Saturday we will dock in
Honolulu and then off to Kauai on Sunday.
The port of Hilo will be skipped so that we can make it back to LA on
the 18th. Let the screaming
and complaining begin!!
We have already heard some griping and calls for
“compensation”!! The Captain explained
that he has to slow the ship in these seas in order to maintain as much comfort
and safety for the passengers as he possibly can. There are many passengers onboard who are
unsteady on dry land so you can imagine how they are gripping the railings
now!!
Our friend, Doris, was having lunch on the deck yesterday
when a huge stack of plastic glasses broke from their mooring and spilled out
on the floor. Things are definitely
moving around.
Had some better luck in the casino last night so now I am
playing with THEIR money!
We keep running into staff members from other cruises and
today I had a passenger recognize me from the Ruby Princess last year! Small cruising world.
Just looked at the stats on TV and they are calling the wind
now a Force 9 – Strong Gale. The seas
are “rough” with up to 12 foot waves.
The temperature has warmed up and there are some people getting too much
sun. A gal I saw a while ago looked like
she had 3rd degree burns in a “swimsuit” pattern!!!
Trivia wins continue to elude us. We are the best second place team in the fleet!
What made the loudest noise ever heard on earth? (I got that
one!)
What were the New York Yankees called before they were the
Yankees? (No Googling!!)
Moneyball is playing in the theater so Sailor Ed has gone to
the movies!
Much love from whitecap central!
XOXOXO
Me
Compensation. Shuh. Cruise ships have to reschedule and maneuver all the time because of weather. Better safe than sorry, ding-a-lings! I know you guys are stoked to be missing Hilo!!
ReplyDeleteAfter having to work so hard to find any brains at trivia, I'd like to know the make-up of the team that keeps you guys in 2nd place.
Sure Dad will enjoy Moneyball. Brian liked it...course he watched it on a plane and his track record for my liking movies he's watched on a plane isn't great. :-)
