Feb . 9th – Fifth day at sea

We have finally found some calmer seas after another bad night of nearly lifting off and being launched off our mattresses!!

The seas are not flat but no whitecaps are in sight!  We were up on deck for a couple of hours and I think I saw Tom Hanks’ “Wilson” float by!

The sad news is that there were some casualties during the first few days.  There was a broken arm and a lady fell and broke her leg.  They were going to take her to get surgery in Honolulu but now I guess they’ll take her off on Maui tomorrow for treatment.  I’m not kidding when I say it was tough getting around the ship and that’s a terrible way to have a cruise end.

As I said we were out on deck enjoying the sun and being blinded by all the newly undressed white bodies!  The glare was blinding.  They still haven’t filled the main pools because of the swells we’re still experiencing.

Needless to say, we are looking forward to seeing a bird or two tomorrow!  Maui is a tender port and I know the lines to disembark tomorrow will be long and full of anxious people.  We may have a broken head or two if someone cuts in line!  Fortunately, since we’ve cruised with Princess so often we have priority for the tenders!!

The internet has been hideously slow so I haven’t tried to send any pictures but I should manage a few tomorrow from Maui.  Also, my phone will work!!

We are now two hours behind you in CA and 5 hours from GA.  We will have to give those hours back next week!

Calling it a day!  We had a good evening in the casino and Sailor Ed is now back to even money!!  Since we will be in the Hawaiian Islands for the next three days the casino will be closed.

The pools are all filled when we checked this evening.  There’s only about 12 kids onboard so they will be very happy.

Your trivia update for today is that first prize still eludes us!!
Who killed the Minatour?
What Rogers and Hammerstein musical was based on a story called “Green Grow the Lilacs”?

Lots of love from calmer but still “swell” seas!!
XOXOXOXO

  1. Oh no! I should have thought that someone was getting hurt in all that rocking, but it never crossed my mind. I can't even imagine how it would feel to be seriously injured, yet stuck in the middle of the ocean...for days. Poor, poor things!

I wonder if there will be people that get off the ship in Maui and fly home rather than getting back on again.

  2. I bet there's lots of space available on the "Dune Buggy Mt Haleakala" and "Unlimited Rides Wristbands at a local Carnival" excursions!

  3. If I had to choose my poison I think it would be high seas rather than the norovirus which has affected over 500 passengers on the Ruby Princess and Crown Princess. Hopefully, they had smooth seas to run to the head! I certainly feel for the injured passengers on your ship. Just don't become a casualty!!! Carol
